Description
Passion fruit is a typical tropical fruit and very familiar in Vietnam. If translated literally, it means the fruit of passion and love. It is probably called that because of the unique flavor and passionate aroma of passion fruit.
Scientifically, passion fruit is not related to the citrus family. Because it does not have a segment shape like citrus fruits, inside are seeds with a fleshy membrane surrounding them. Unlike other fruits whose seeds cannot be eaten, passion fruit can be used whole. Even passion fruit seeds are proven to be a very good source of fiber for the body. Passion fruit seeds can act as a laxative and cure constipation without any side effects.
When talking about fresh passion fruit, it is impossible not to mention its wonderful uses such as:
- A source of essential vitamins and nutrients for the body such as vitamins A, C, iron, potassium, and fiber.
- Phytochemical extracts from passion fruit help prevent the growth of cancer cells.
- Phenolic acids and flavonoids in fresh passion fruit help prevent cardiovascular disease and fight infections.
- The sugar in passion fruit is a simple sugar that provides energy and can be used by people with diabetes.
- Sterols in passion fruit are plant compounds that reduce cholesterol in the blood.
- Passion fruit also has sedative and pain-relieving effects, limiting nervous tension, headaches and symptoms of premenopausal women.
- Passion fruit also has the effect of relaxing you, making it easier to sleep while also cooling you down, quenching your thirst, and sedating you.
